Our Church

St. John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church is located among the pines on the eastern shore of beautiful Lake Tahoe near Glenbrook, NV. St. John’s and Galilee Episcopal Camp and Retreat Center share in the stewardship of this inspiring, spiritual, and peaceful site.

St. John’s was originally built in the historic mining town of Goldfield, NV in 1908. After the mining boom to bust cycle had played out the church sat vacant for over three decades. In 1948 it was disassembled and reconstructed in its present location. The windows, pews, beams, and much of the woodwork are from the original church. St. John’s is quite possibly one of the most historic and picturesque churches in the American West.

Between the awe inspiring setting and the historic and simple chapel, St. John’s offers an opportunity to worship in one of the most beautiful and spiritual places on the planet. We look forward to meeting you and sharing this sacred place with you. Take the time to make the short drive—you will not be disappointed.
